Sustainability Café on April 15th will explore an Ithaca alum’s path into farmingContributed by Marian Brown on 04/14/13
Shane Hardy ’09 works for the Rockland Farm Alliance and has recently become the farm manager at Cropsey Community Farm, an organically- and biodynamically-managed diverse vegetable farm with 170 CSA members. This year, Cropsey will offer a farmer's market and work with a few restaurants. Hardy will talk about his journey growing up as a suburban kid who majored in philosophy and religion at IC and will try to explain “how the hell I got to where I am now: managing a small farm four years later.” “Teachable edibles” – local, organic and/or seasonal snacks – for the Spring 2013 Sustainability Café series are being sponsored by Ithaca College Dining Services whose motto is “Sustainability – Healthy – Fresh.” Please bring your reusable mug and fill up at the nearest drinking fountain or provide your own beverage of choice. This event is free and open to the public. Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact Marian Brown at 607-274-3787 or mbrown@ithaca.edu. We ask that requests for accommodations be made as soon as possible. Drink in a new way to think in the Sustainability Café. |
