If you couldn't get into an Academic Writing 1 course this past year and it's a pre-requisite for Fall 2013 courses, consider taking it online this Summer. Starting May 28, for one month, Academic Writing 1 will be offered online using the course management system, Sakai. The asynchronous course will allow students to complete all assignments, class discussions, and drafts on their own time at their own pace. The Sakai site will provide students with video content, illustrating the concepts explored and expectations for each major assignment. Also, students will have the opportunity to engage in interactive discussions about the readings and student drafts. This 4-week course fulfills the standard requirement for Academic Writing 1 and is equivalent to the traditional face-to-face version of the course. Moreover, there will be no indication within the official transcripts that it was an online course. For further questions about the course, contact Dr. Mary Lourdes Silva at msilva@ithaca.edu |
