Ithaca College

At its February meeting, the Ithaca College Board of Trustees — and especially its Educational Policy Committee and Campus Life and Community Committee — engaged in thoughtful discussions with the administrative leadership about the educational mission of the college as a comprehensive residential institution, the quality of its curricular and cocurricular programs, and the excellent work of its faculty and staff.

Specific topics ranged from an update on academic program review to faculty handbook recommendations to the vision for the First-Year Residential Experience. One very important action taken by the board of trustees was the granting of emeritus/a status to 7 former faculty members and the awarding of promotions and tenure to 18 current faculty members.

Frank Musgrave, who taught in the Department of Economics and passed away in 2013, was posthumously named professor emeritus.

• Jodi Cohen, who retired in 2012.
• Sarah Trenholm, who retired in 2010.

Department of Modern Languages and Literatures
• Sabatino Maglione, who retired in 2011.

Department of Physical Therapy
• Michael Pagliarulo, who retired in 2012.

Department of Politics
• Zillah Eisenstein, who retired in 2012.

Department of Strategic Communication
• Steven Seidman, who retired in 2011.

Elizabeth Peterson, Department of Music Education, was awarded tenure and promoted from associate professor to professor. She received her D.M.A. from Shenandoah Conservatory, M.M. from Northwestern University and B.M. from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

The following faculty members were awarded tenure and promoted from assistant to associate professor:

• Denise Nuttall, who received her Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia, M.A. from the University of Western Ontario and B.A. from York University.

• Leann Kanda, who received her Ph.D. and M.S. from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and B.A. from Dartmouth College.

Department of Chemistry
• Janet Hunting, who received her Ph.D. and M.S. from Cornell University and B.S. from California State University, Long Beach.

Department of Education
• Cathrene Connery, who received her Ph.D. from the University of New Mexico, M.A. from Adams State University and M.Ed. and B.F.A. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Department of History
• Matthew Klemm, who received his Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University and M.A. and B.A. from the University of Iowa.

Department of Media Arts, Sciences, and Studies
• Katalin Lustyik, who received her Ph.D. and M.A. from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and B.A. and M.A. from Kossuth University.
• Jack Powers, who received his Ph.D. from Syracuse University, M.A. from Ohio State University and B.A. from Mount Union College.

Department of Music Education
• Daniel Isbell, who received his Ph.D. from the University of Colorado, Boulder, M.M.E. from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, and B.M. from Ithaca College.

Department of Performance Studies
• Bradley Hougham, who received his D.M.A. from Rutgers University, M.A. from Queens College, Professional Studies Diploma from Mannes College and B.M. from the University of Saskatchewan.
• Jennifer Kay, who received her D.M.A. and M.M. from Boston University and B.M. from Ithaca College.
• Alexander Perialas, who received his B.S. from Ithaca College.

• Peter Silberman, who received his Ph.D. and M.A. from the Eastman School of Music and B.M. from Oberlin Conservatory.

Department of Philosophy and Religion
• Tatiana Patrone, who received her Ph.D. and M.A. from the State University of New York, Albany, and B.A. from Moscow State University.

• Tiffany Hilton, who received her Ph.D. from the University of Florida, Gainesville, M.P.T. from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences and B.S. from Wake Forest University.

• Belisa Gonzalez, who received her Ph.D. from Emory University, M.A. from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, and B.A. from Texas State University, San Marcos.

• Angela Branneman, who received her M.F.A. from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, and B.A. from Indiana University, Bloomington.
