Congratulations to Fred Wilcox on the Release of His New NovelContributed by Jim Stafford on 03/08/13
The staff at Split Oak Press would like to congratulate Professor Fred Wilcox on the release of his first novel, Secrets. Fred will also be featuring on Tish Pearlman's radio show, Out of Bounds this Sunday, March 10 at 11.30 a.m.
Secrets is a wonderful, bitter-sweet novel about the stories we weave around ourselves. The secrets kept by widower Richard Grady are dreadful, while Maggie Mallon has spun herself into a web of fantasy with all the tales that she's told. The only character who claims to be truly honest is Gardy's dog Crockett, who loves to offer advice and criticism to anyone who will listen: which is mainly just Grady. Fred Wilcox’s previous non-fiction successes include Scorched Earth: Legacies of Chemical Warfare in Vietnam, Chasing Shadows: Memoirs of a Sixties Survivor, and Waiting for an Army to Die: The Tragedy of Agent Orange. An associate professor in the Writing Department at Ithaca College, Wilcox has spent his entire adult life writing and teaching about war and nonviolence. Of Wilcox’s debut novel, Secrets, Author Edward Hower writes: “Fred Wilcox uses great skill and wit interweaving tales of people struggling for love and redemption, sex and hope—what we all wish for. His characters are dramatically endearing souls, and the book leaves the reader amused, satisfied, and a bit wiser about the vulnerability of the human condition.Secrets is a beautifully written, thoroughly enjoyable novel.” —Edward Hower, author of The New Life Hotel and The Storms of May Fred will be a guest star on Tish Pearlman's radio show, Out of Bounds at the following times: Thurs March 7 at 7pm: WEOS-FM ( 90.3 & 89.7 Geneva region)Live Stream: WEOS.org Sunday March 10 at 11:30am: WSKG-FM (89.3 Binghamton, 90.9Ithaca 91.7 Cooperstown/Oneonta, 91.1 Corning/Elmira, 88.7 Hornell/Alfred) Live Stream:Wskg.org To purchase a copy of Secrets, or any other Split Oak Press publications, go www.splitoakpress.com, and browse through the “Titles” page.
