Derrick Fox, a recent recipient of the prestigious University Enrichment Graduate Fellowship award, has been named the new Assistant Professor of Choral Music Education at IC's School of Music. Fox received a Doctorate of Musical Arts in choral conducting from Michigan State University in 2013 where he was a conducting student of Dr. David Rayl, Dr. Jon Reed and Dr. Sandra Snow.

In 2012, he was the headline clinician for the Michigan Vocal Music Association’s choral adjudication workshop and also presented at the Arkansas Choral Director’s Association Convention, the Missouri Choral Director’s Summer Convention and the 2013 Florida Music Educator’s Association Convention. Also of note, Fox is the headlining clinician at the 2013 Texas Choral Director’s Association Convention.  



Fox earned a Bachelor of Music Education from Arkansas State University and a Master of Music in choral conducting from the University of Missouri – Columbia with Dr. R. Paul Crabb. He was the choral director at MacArthur Junior High School in Jonesboro, Arkansas, Parkway North High School and Maryville University, in St. Louis, Missouri.

He is an active adjudicator and clinician for regional and state choirs from the middle/junior high school to the collegiate level. He has worked with ensembles and presented sessions in Arkansas, Pennsylvania, Kansas, Missouri, Florida and Michigan. As a soloist, Derrick has collaborated with various organizations, among them are the Arkansas Symphony, Lansing Symphony, St. Louis Symphony, Columbia Chorale, the University of Nebraska at Omaha, University of Missouri, Webser University, Truman State University and Michigan State University.
