After being one of six groups forwarded to the finals, the Ithaca College Trumpet Ensemble placed fourth in the Ensemble Division of the National Trumpet Competition held in Washington, DC this past weekend.

Five IC trumpeters--seniors Sam Thurston and Danny Venora along with juniors Tom Pang, Aaron Scoccia and Jenna Veverka--have been working on the competition piece since last fall.

For the initial round, each entering school sent a recording of its piece to a panel of judges and from this large number of entries, 31 semi-finalists were selected to appear in Washington, D.C. After a live performance for the judges, IC’s ensemble was selected among five other ensembles and moved to the finals, held Saturday, March 16 at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA.
