Dr. Cathrene Connery, a leader of the Karen-Burmese American Advocates (KBAA) organization will give a presentation at Food for Thought's general body meeting this Monday, at 7:00 in Friends 201. Dr. Cathrene Connery is an Assistant Professor in the Dept. of Education at Ithaca College. She works with elementary & middle school-level children, and recently began working with teens.Her doctorate is in language, literacy, and sociocultural studies with an emphasis in bilingual education and English as a second language education. She is one of the leaders of a local organization, the Karen Burmese American Advocates (KBAA). This organization addresses the needs of Ithaca’s Karen-Burmese-American community. This community is composed of over 150 individuals including KBA children, families, sponsors, and the professionals that support them.
