The African Students Association will host our first annual Africa week. This week will include a series of events that will be dedicated to promoting awareness to the public about the social, cultural, and political aspects of Africa, both historical and modern.

This week begins with a visit from filmmaker and author, M.K. Asante JR. who will open the week with a screening of his film and a discussion on Monday April 1st. On April 4th ASA is collaborating with the Caribbean Students Association and the African Latino Society for “Let the Beat Drop: From Afrobeats to Hip hop”, an exploration of the connections between Hip Hop, Reggae, and Afrobeats. The week will conclude with the first annual Mr. & Miss ASA pageant on Friday April 5th (this includes modern African fashion and comedy) and the Africa Week banquet on Saturday April 6th.
