Saviana Stanescu Condeescu to Present at the Thursday, April 4 Faculty ColloquiumContributed by MaryAnn Taylor on 04/02/13 The following is submitted on behalf of Provost Marisa Kelly: Please join me on Thursday, April 4th for the fifth Faculty Colloquium of the academic year. Saviana Stanescu Condeescu , Department of Theatre Arts, will be presenting “NEW YORK WITH AN ACCENT (Writing the Immigrant Experience).” Romanian-born award-winning playwright and poet Saviana Stanescu, author of the acclaimed plays "Aliens With Extraordinary Skills" (produced off-Broadway at Women's Project, New York; in regional US theatres; in Mexico, in the Spanish version: Inmigrantes con Habilidades Extraordinarias, in Turkey, Romania, etc), "Lenin's Shoe", "Ants", "For a Barbarian Woman", and "Waxing West" (winner of 2007 New York Innovative Theatre Award for Outstanding Script), will talk about writing/performing the immigrant experience. The presentation will include production photos and readings of excerpts from Saviana's work, followed by a discussion. The Colloquium will take place from 5:00p.m.-6:30p.m. in the Clark Lounge of the Campus Center. We will enjoy wine, appetizers, an outstanding presentation, and excellent conversation.
