On April 8th, at 7:00 in Textor 101, the Diversity Awareness Committee will host a free public showing of the movie “Murderball”. Refreshments will be served. “Murderball” is a 2005 documentary film about quadriplegic athletes who play wheelchair rugby. This movie centers on the rivalry between the Canadian and U.S. teams leading up to the 2004 Paralympic Games. Many of the athletes of Murderball had catastrophic accidents during the prime of their lives. This movie shows that that not only does life go on, but it can still be lived to the fullest. Peter Hartlaub, San Francisco Chronicle, wrote, “In less than an hour and a half, the athletes profiled in the documentary will frustrate you, amaze you, make you laugh and make you cry - but you'll never feel sorry for them.”
Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact Jean Celeste-Astorina at jastorina@ithaca.edu or (607) 274-1005. We ask that requests for accommodations be made as soon as possible. |
