Focus Asia Month continues with a one-day intercollegiate conference this Sunday, April 21st, held by IC Asian American Alliance and Cornell's Asian & Asian American Center. The conference kicks off in Business 111 with workshops at 11am and 1pm featuring students from UCLA and Duke speaking on dealing with hate crimes in their campuses. The conference will continue with even more workshops at Cornell!

At 11am-How to Handle the Haters
What would you do if someone posted a racist video about Asians being too loud in the library? Or if a fraternity threw an "Asian-themed" party? Find out how Duke and UCLA students responded to the hate crimes and ignorant acts that occurred on their campus in recent years, and talk about student activism.
Food will be served at noon for those who attend both workshops
At 1pm- From Whitewashed to Ethnocentric: Identity Development Within Our Communities
Feel like some people "get it" and some have "sold out"? Feeling hypervigilant about your race? College is often the first time one explores the various aspects of one's identity. Led by Patricia Nguyen, Director of the Cornell Asian & Asian American Center, this interactive workshop will focus on identity development models within communities of color. *SLI Credit is also available*

1:00PM - Welcome to the Summit: Introductory Remarks by Director
For those at Cornell, Patricia C. Nguyen, the current Director of Cornell's Asian and Asian American and Assistant Dean of Students, will be welcoming the Cornell cohort and the beginning of SWAAAG at Cornell University.
1:30PM - The Microaggression Project Workshop
The Microaggression Projection (www.microaggressions.com), an endeavor started by two college students aimed at documenting all the microaggressions they experienced in their lives, is presenting a workshop that hopes to open the floor for a discussion of stories and anecdotes of these subtle put-downs.
3:00PM - Gender Panels (Men - Goldwin Smith Hall 144 and Women - Goldwin Smith Hall 156)
Men - The Asian American Men's Discussion Panel, consisting of prominent Asian American Cornellian Men, will be providing an inside look into the discrepancies facing their identities at Cornell University. Through personal anecdotes and open questions, the panel hopes to provide a deeper insight into the conflicting male and Asian selves.
Women - The Asian American Women's Discussion Panel, consisting of prominent Asian American Cornellian Women, will be conversing about their invisible selves within the Cornell context. The hypersexualization of Asian women and the opposing repression of their sexualities will be covered as well as their personal experiences on campus.
4:00PM - Keynote: UCLA/Duke Panel: "How to Handle the Haters"
