Ithaca College Junior and Senior Art students present Collectanea, a self-made, self-curated show of their own work. The show will take place at 239 South Cayuga St, on the corner of Clinton St, across from the Holiday Inn and will run for the first two weekends in May. The artists will be present both weekends to provide insight into the presented works. Opening reception is Friday May 3, from 5:00-8:00pm.

The show will feature a wide variety of work from 15 artists. The pieces will span a breadth of media, including painting, printmaking, digital media, photography, sculpture, installation, and film. The work will explore the idea of “environments,” including how the artist is influenced by his or her environment, and how art can create an environment of its own or transform a pre-existing one.

Opening night will take place in conjunction with downtown Ithaca’s First Friday Gallery Night series. The reception party will feature live music performance by V, a musical and visual artistic collaboration.  Seeking to expand the preconceived notions of electronic music, the show will feature live instrumentalists and live painting to create a unique, energized and ever-changing atmosphere. Refreshments will be served.
