Ithaca College School of Music Vocal Students from the voice studio of Dawn Pierce will perform a special recital Thursday, May 2 at 6 p.m. in Presser Hall at the Whalen School of Music. Below is a bit more information about the group, written by senior vocal performance major, Susan Davies.

FIERCE: A Pierce Studio Song Celebration
Four years ago, two dozen freshmen met in Beeler for their first rep class. A unique studio composed entirely of freshmen, they couldn't possibly have imagined where their journey at Ithaca College would lead.

In barely four years, the members of this studio have starred in musicals, plays, solo recitals, group recitals, cabarets, operas, master classes, and workshops. They've shared the journey, encouraging each others' growth and delighting in each others' discoveries. While exploring diverse musical styles – opera, art song, musical theater, jazz, folk, rock, and pop – they've supported each others' artistic and vocal growth.

Now, even after welcoming new students to the studio, the vast majority will be graduating within the next two semesters. This recital is a celebration of the four years of hard work and achievement – the tears, the joy, the discovery. Featuring a wide variety of music, “Fierce” truly showcases the depth of talent and artistry in the Pierce studio.

The journey may have started four years ago, but it certainly doesn’t end here…
