Ithaca College Part of "Distinguished" Area and Division!Contributed by Pam Ameigh on 07/22/13 Ithaca College Toastmasters achieved Select Distinguished Club status this year, and that contributed to both the area and division achieving Distinguished status. The Southern Division, though newer and smaller in total membership than the Western, Central, and Eastern Divisions of District 65, has earned a higher percentage of distinguished clubs and areas and is the only "Distinguished" division in district 65 after the close of the 2012-2013 fiscal year. Clubs, areas, divisions, and districts of Toastmasters International earn points for achieving communication and leadership goals throughout the year. These include things like attending officer training sessions, adding new members and clubs, and reaching educational and leadership milestones by fulfilling speech requirements and meeting roles. It takes some individual and group effort to achieve enough of these points to be called "Distinguished," "Select Distinguished," or "President's Distinguished." To learn more about the recognition program or the learning opportunity that Toastmasters International provides right here at Ithaca College and beyond, please join us for a meeting (the next two are 9am Tuesday, July 30 and 2pm Wednesday August 14 in the Cayuga Lake Room) or contact a club officer: Heather Schuck, President and Area 10 Governor 2013-2014 Theresa Radley, Vice President Education and Membership Jane Ray, Secretary/Treasurer Cathy Wall, Sergeant-at-Arms Marie Abb, Webmaster Pamela Ameigh, VP Public Relations (Southern Division Governor 2011-2013)
