Student Computer Lab Updates

Contributed by Beth Rugg on 08/23/13

Information Technology Services has been working in the computer labs this summer and has some important updates and changes to make you aware of.

  • All lab computers (Windows and Macs) will automatically login; users no longer have to enter their Netpass credentials to access the Ithaca College network. This change significantly reduced the login time. Remember to shut down the computer as soon as you are done with your work. Shutting down the computer removes any of the users' work/files.
  • After 60 minutes of inactivity, all Windows computers will automatically shut down. This change helps with "cleaning up" the computers and with conserving energy. Being away from a computer for a long time may result in losing work.
  • The GoPrint print management software has been added to all lab computers and will be "turned on" throughout the course of the semester; see this intercom article for more details.
  • When GoPrint is "turned on", the user will be prompted to login with Netpass credentials for every print job. The user will then "release" the job to the printer.
