Topic: Learning Outcomes and Course Design in Service-Learning
Facilitated by Belisa Gonzalez, PhD, Ithaca College, Department of Sociology, and Richard Kiely, PhD, Cornell University, Engaged Learning and Research

Interactive session will provide faculty members with the tools for designing service-learning courses and developing appropriate learning outcomes for the courses.

A certificate of completion will be offered to those who attend two of the three scheduled sessions.  The series is intended to prepare IC faculty for the May 2014 CFE Excellence Institute on Service Learning.

New Faculty Orientation Fall Workshop: The Integrative Core Curriculum--A New Faculty Member's Guide

Facilitated by Danette Johnson, Assistant Provost and Director of the Core Curriculum

This session will introduce you to the Integrative Core Curriculum (ICC), Ithaca College’s new curriculum which will be required for all students beginning in Fall 2013. Participants will learn about the basic components of the curriculum and how they can become involved with the ICC.

New faculty should RSVP no later than September 9 by email to cfe@ithaca.edu or 274-3734. Your response, whether positive or negative, will assist with refreshments and seating arrangements.

Human Subjects Research Approval Process

The All-College Review Board for Human Subjects Research (HSR) is a standing committee at Ithaca College responsible for reviewing all-College research and teaching activities conducted by faculty, staff, and students that involve the use of human subjects to ensure that these activities minimize the potential for risk. To comply with federal and state laws for protection of human subjects in research and Ithaca College policies, all research that involves human subjects must be reviewed by and must receive approval from the HSR Board prior to data collection
