Please join us for a presentation on 'Fracking 101' led by local on-campus activists, followed by a conversation about the relevance of the current exhibition (The Marcellus Shale Documentary Project) on both life and landscape in Upstate New York.

  • Maura Stephens, associate director of the Park Center for Independent Media, Ithaca College; independent journalist; cofounder of Coalition to Protect New York, Frackbusters NY, and other grassroots groups; and author of the forthcoming book Frack Attack: Fighting Back
  • Anne Stork, assistant professor in the Departments of Biology and Environmental Studies & Sciences; member of the Danby Gas Drilling Task Force; participant in rallies protesting fracking throughout New York State; and longtime educator on the various issues related to fracking; and 
  • Ben Lloyd ('13), architectural studies major, co-president of Frack Off, founding member of Green Umbrella/New York Youth for a Just and Sustainable Future, and antifracking activist.

 

All Handwerker Gallery events are free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 10.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.; Thursday, 10.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m.; and weekends, noon to 5.00 p.m.. The gallery is closed to the public on Tuesdays unless otherwise specified for an event but can accommodate group or class visits by appointment.
