Ithaca College

The Ithaca College community lost a former longtime staff member, Terry Beckley, who passed away on August 29, 2013. Terry started at IC in Alumni Relations in 1990, and moved to the Gerontology Institute in 1994, where he had several different positions, including that of Outreach Coordinator. He retired from the ICGI and from IC in September 2006. Terry made many significant contributions to IC and the Gerontology Institute in his years here, and he will be missed by those who knew him. He was creative, fun-loving, and very committed to improving the lives of older people and their caregivers, and he used those gifts to help shape the Gerontology Institute’s academic and outreach programs. Terry A. Beckley, 68, of Union Springs, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on August 29, 2013. He was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Stella Beckley and a brother, William. He is survived by his partner, Tim Bergan; an aunt, Jennie Czesak and numerous cousins. Terry was born in Ithaca, NY raised and educated in Interlaken. Terry lived and worked in Chicago, New York City, the Caribbean and settled for more than twenty years in Northern California where he ran his own business. He returned to central New York in 1990 and worked at Ithaca College until retirement. Terry enjoyed travel, hiking, gardening, and reading and always did volunteer work.
