Sign up to Volunteer in New York or Virginia!Contributed by Don Austin on 09/22/13 The Office of Student Engagement and Multicultural Affairs will be offering 2 service immersion trips this fall! Students can choose between volunteering in Syracuse, NY, and northern Virginia! SIGN UP HERE! Sky Meadow State Park (Delaplane, VA) We will be heading to Sky Meadow State Park to work with Virginia Parks and Recreation on some trail building and maintance! This is an excellent opportunity to spend your fall break exploring a new area, building new experience, meeting new people, or completing a community service requirement.
If you would like more information on the Sky Meadow trip, please contact austin@ithaca.edu at your earliest convenience! The Rescue Mission (Syracuse, NY) The Rescue Mission, located in the Mission District of Syracuse, is just outside of the downtown area. The RM campus has an emergency shelter, day center and serves three meals a day at their food services center. On any given night, they have over 250 men sleeping under our roof. Each day, they serve over 725 meals to men, women and children who are hungry. In 2012, they gave away over 70,000 pieces of clothing to those in need. This is truly an amazing resource in the Syracuse area, and Ithaca College students will have an opportunity to volunteer with RM during Fall Break! The cost of the Rescue Mission trip will be $50.00 USD for all non-driver participants. Students who are 21 years of age before October 17 are encouraged to apply as participant- drivers to receive a reduced program fee. This trip is limited to 6 students. If you would like more information on the Rescue Mission trip, please contact austin@ithaca.edu at your earliest convenience!
