Life is full of ups and downs--and everyone feels frustrated, sad or overwhelmed at times.

It's not easy to keep a positive outlook, especially during tough times. However, did you know that positive thinking can...

  • Help you live longer
  • Lower your stress level
  • Boost your immune system
  • Affect your overall sense of feeling good?

Here are some "Positive Pointers" from Student Health 101:

  1. Surround yourself with supportive people.
  2. Use challenges as a way to learn.
  3. Don't automatically expect the worst.
  4. Maintain your health with exercise, healthy eating, and stress management.
  5. If you feel overwhelmed, ask for help.
  6. No one is perfect; work on accepting who you are.
  7. Make time for things you enjoy.

Read the September issue of Student Health 101 for more ways to keep a healthy, happy lifestyle!

Student Health 101 is co-sponsored by the Center for Health Promotion and the Department of Health Promotion and Physical Education, with generous support from the Division of Student Affairs and Campus Life.
