Ithaca College

Professor Jude is currently exhibiting a large selection of work from three projects about his home state of Idaho. Alpine Star (2006), emmett (2010), and Lick Creek Line (2012) are all on view in the first-floor galleries at the Museum of Contemporary Photography at Columbia College Chicago. The three-person exhibition, entitled Backstory, was curated by Karen Irvine, Curator and Associate Director of MoCP. 

Ron Jude and Guillaume Simoneau will be giving gallery talks about their work at 5:30pm on Friday, September 27th, followed by a reception for the exhibition. They will be signing books throughout the event. 

Recognizing both the allure and the inherent fiction of image-based narrative, the three artists in this exhibition, Ron Jude, LaToya Ruby Frazier, and Guillaume Simoneau, tell autobiographical stories by intertwining their personal narrative with the social, political, and cultural conditions of place. By mixing familial and communal histories, the artists blur the boundaries between the personal and the collective as they mirror the fluidity of our information-saturated world.  

The exhibition, which opened on July 18th, runs through October 6th.
