Susan Waterbury, violinist, performed and taught at 2013 summer music festivals in NY and around the world.Contributed by Susan Waterbury on 09/24/13 Susan Waterbury, violinist, performed and taught at 2013 summer music festivals in NY and around the world. In 'Mayfest' 2013 at Cornell University, Waterbury collaborated with guest musicians from Isreal and Russia, performing Bach's Orchestral Suite No. 2 (as a string quartet) with the principal flutist of the Isreali Philharmonic, Eyal Ein-Habar. in June 2013, Waterbury was a performer for the Deia International Music Festival on the island of Mallorca, Spain, performing Piazzola's "Four Seasons" and other works with musicians from Spain and the US. Also, Waterbury was a guest artist coach at the Castleman Quartet Program in Fredonia, NY, a long standing festival for college students started by Charlie and Heidi Castleman that focuses on the art of string quartet playing. in July 2013, Waterbury taught at IC's Summer Music Academy alongside three of her alumni students, Joshua Modney, Andrew Bergevin, and Natasha Colkett. Then she traveled to Austria to be on the faculty of the music festival, Alpenkammermusik, a two week chamber music festival nestled in the mountains of southern Austria for college music students and adult amateur players from around the world. in August 2013, Waterbury was a guest violinist and teacher for the Tuckamore Festival, a thriving music festival in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada. She performed the Brahms Clarinet Quintet with the clarinetist, James Campbell, and other outstanding Tuckamore musicians, Nancy Dahn, Vernon Regher, and Yariv Aloni.
