FLEFF Collaborates on Free Ithaca Premiere Screening of Dirty Wars Friday, Oct. 4Contributed by Patricia Zimmermann on 09/27/13 Amnesty International in Collaboration with the Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival Presents Dirty Wars is a Sundance Film Festival award-winning documentary that follows investigative journalist Jeremy Scahill as he chases down the hidden truth behind the US government's "global war" theory, used to justify killings around the world with drones and other weapons. The U.S. government's "global war" theory is being used to justify human rights violations. Amnesty International is pushing to have the law at the heart of the "global war" theory - 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) – repealed. See the trailer for Dirty Wars HERE. ACTIVIST WORKSHOP Amnesty International will lead an activist training in grassroots organizing, media and messaging, guerilla theatre, and other creative forms of direct action and legislative activisim. This special free screening and workshop event is co-sponsored through a collaborative partnershipbetween the Ithaca Chapter of Amnesty International, the Ithaca College Human Rights Club, the Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival (FLEFF), and the Politics Department.
