The Sustainability Café on Monday, November 4 will feature Guillermo Metz presenting “Addressing Global Climate Change Through Local Action.” The Café will be held in Center for Natural Sciences Room 112 at 4:00PM, in conjunction with the Environmental Seminar. The Fall 2013 Sustainability Café/Environmental Seminar series is focused on the concept of “Citizens + Community = Healthy Environment.” 

Guillermo Metz is the Green Building & Renewable Energy Program Coordinator for Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County. He also contributes to the statewide CCE Energy and Climate Change Team, and co-hosts the Forecast, a monthly radio show on climate change on local radio station WRFI. Guillermo arrived at this position along a path that includes a biology degree from St. Mary's College of Maryland, a master's in journalism from NYU's Science and Environmental Reporting Program, jobs that include several years as a medical editor and freelance writer/reporter, editor for a local sports industry trade magazine, and self-employed carpenter. His current position combines these experiences as he coordinates community outreach programs to increase the responsible adoption of renewable energy and introduce as many county residents as possible to the many benefits of green building methods, materials and technologies.

“Teachable edibles” – local, organic and/or seasonal snacks – for the Fall 2013 Sustainability Café series are being sponsored by Ithaca College Dining Services whose motto is “Sustainability – Healthy – Fresh.” Please bring your reusable mug and fill up at the nearest drinking fountain or provide your own beverage of choice.
