This renowned chamber ensemble will give a formal recital and master class on October 12, both of which are open to all individuals. The Ancia Saxophone Quartet will be guest artists at the Whalen Center for Music on Saturday, October 12. This internationally acclaimed chamber ensemble will present a master class from 1:00-2:30 p.m. in the Nabenhauer Recital Room and a formal concert at 4:00 p.m. in the Hockett Family Recital Hall. The quartet is comprised of Matthew Sintchak (soprano saxophone), IC alumna Joan Hutton (alto saxophone), David Milne (tenor saxophone), and Angela Wyatt (baritone saxophone). Their concert will feature the music of Astor Piazzolla, Jennifer Higdon, Alfred Desenclos, and other international composers. Ancia was founded in 1990 as an ensemble dedicated to the creation and performance of new works for saxophone quartet, as well as the performance of traditional saxophone quartet repertoire. The School of Music Guest Artist/Special Event Committee, The Ithaca College Saxophone Ensemble, and the Vandoren/DANSR Music Company are sponsors of these events, which are free and open to the public. Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact Steven Mauk at mauk@ithaca.edu or (607) 274-3223. We ask that requests for accommodations be made as soon as possible. |
