Death by doorknob? The Golden Doorknob Awards are a tradition at the Roy H. Park School of Communications, dating back to the 1970s. Back in those days the films were silent, black and white, and all film students had the same assignment: make a short film that presents the most imaginative way to kill someone with a doorknob. The contest was revived in 2009.

The 2013 Golden Doorknob Awards and Screening will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, October 11 in the Park Hall Auditorium at Ithaca College. Cash prizes total more than $2500.

The screening is free and open to the public. Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact Steve Gordon at sgordon@ithaca.edu or (607) 274-5130. We ask that requests for accommodations be made as soon as possible.
