Justine Vosloo, Assistant Professor in the Department of Exercise and Sport Sciences, and four graduate students from the graduate program in Exercise and Sport Sciences delivered three presentations at the 28th Annual Association for Applied Sport Psychology Conference in New Orleans, La., October 2-5.
The presentations were titled:
- “Are we getting the respect we deserve? – Attitudes towards and recognition of CC-AASP by NCAA Division I and III athletic directors and coaches,” presented by Samantha Diamond, Anthea Barnett, Justine Vosloo, and Miranda Kaye. This paper examined coach and athletic directors’ awareness and perceptions of Certified Consultant status (CC-AASP), the main credential in the field of sport psychology. The purpose of this research was to investigate what is currently known about sport psychology and CC-AASP by chief consumers (athletic directors and coaches), to investigate any relationship between consumers knowledge of CC-AASP and their hiring practices, as well as to obtain information about the hiring practices of head coaches and ADs at NCAA Division I and III schools when seeking sport psychology consultant services.
- “'Good dive': Delivery and evaluation of an imagery program to a collegiate diving team,” presented by William Way, Art Hoomiratana, and Justine Vosloo.
- “College students’ perceptions of exercise and physical activity," presented by Art Hoomiratana, Lauren Schoenberger, and Justine Vosloo.
