It's A Good Life adaptation to incorporate Puppetry and Live PerformanceContributed by Melissa Gattine on 11/05/13 It’s a Good Life will be given “new life” as a theatrical piece that incorporates puppetry, live performance, installation art, and animation. Based on the classic short story and Twilight Zone episode, It's a Good Life has been adapted and directed by Dan Jones, Ithaca College Department of Theatre Arts alumni, and will feature a puppetry team led by Chava Curland, another Ithaca College graduate. Friday, November 8 and Saturday, November 9 This is an satellite event to the Ithaca College Rod Serling Conference, which takes place in Los Angeles this year. IT'S A GOOD LIFE is the story of six-year-old Anthony Fremont, an all-American farm boy who happens to have enormous and inexplicable mental powers. Anthony holds his isolated Ohio town in terror, awe, and rigid conformity. Those townspeople who are seen as "good" in Anthony's eyes earn the daily right to live. The "bad" townspeople are sent into the cornfield, never to emerge. Jerome Bixby's memorably scary and darkly humorous 1953 short story has earned a place in the horror canon. Rod Serling's 1961 adaptation for The Twilight Zone is one of the most famous television productions of all time, ranked among the series' top ten episodes by Time Magazine and TV Guide. It has inspired everything from a feature film segment to a "Treehouse of Horror" episode of The Simpsons. About Dan Jones: Click here for more information about the event.
