William Ryan, assistant professor in the Department of Strategic Communication, recently presented a paper at Academic Mindtrek in Tampere, Finland titled "Social media and the transformation of brand communication." The paper was authored by Ryan, Assistant Professor Adam Peruta, and IC graduate student Suzanne Chouman.

In August, he presented a paper at Digital Games Research Association conference in Atlanta, GA. The paper was titled "Transforming game narrative through social media: A case study of the Mass Effect Universe in Twitter," which was completed with Zach Gilson '13.

In May, Ryan gave two presentations at the Foundations of Digital Games conference in Chania, Crete, Greece. The first was titled "Network Nightmares: Using Games to Teach Networks and Security" with researchers from IUPUI School of Informatics. The second was titled "Integrating Serious Content into Serious Games" and was completed with Associate Professor Dennis Charsky.
