LGBT Film Series Continues Wed. November 6 with “Key West, City of Colors"Contributed by Luca Maurer on 11/04/13
The film focuses on the 2003 unraveling of a one-and-a-quarter-mile-long rainbow flag in Key West, Florida, celebrating the 25th anniversary of the flag becoming the symbol of the gay rights movement. City officials collaborated with the originator of the flag, Gilbert Baker, to construct the three-ton flag that becomes a metaphor for both the community and diversity itself. The beauty of the film is not just the documentation of this historic event; it is also a celebration of the little island of Key West and the people who live there. Out of the Closet and Onto the Screen is sponsored by the Ithaca College Center for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Education, Outreach, and Services.
