Ithaca College

All interested Ithaca College students – especially those residing in South Hill neighborhoods - to encouraged to attend and participate in a listening/feedback session tonight, Monday, November 18 from 7:00PM – 8:30PM in the South Hill Elementary School cafeteria. Cornell University students in the Department of City and Regional Planning (CRP) are exploring the concept of ecological and economic sustainability in a city, and how Ithaca and the surrounding area in Tompkins County might evolve into a more sustainable urban center in the coming decades. Given the unique challenges facing the South Hill neighborhood - from traffic to demographic changes to housing to topography - it is one of two areas in Ithaca chosen as a study site.

The Cornell CRP student team is completing an inventory and analysis of population and housing and other conditions on South Hill. They will present their findings to the South Hill community on Monday, November 18, 2013 from 7:00pm to 8:30pm, in the South Hill Elementary School cafeteria. They will also seek the input of South Hill residents on the issues, challenges, and threats that the community faces today. The students will utilize the input received at the meeting as they develop their ideas for a more sustainable Ithaca, to be presented to the community in early December.

Ithaca College student input will be invaluable to this effort. The Office of Civic Engagement, Sustainability at Ithaca College, and the South Hill Civic Association all encourage you to participate.
