Communication Studies Assistant Professor Christopher House to Teach Introduction to Culture and Communication Online During Winter SessionContributed by Laurie Arliss on 11/11/13
The course explores and interrogates the ways that communication establishes and enacts identity and power dynamics. Students critically analyze social identities as they are communicated, shaped, and reshaped through communication. The main goal of the course is to make students, as global citizens, aware of the ways communication processes (like language, media, and discourse) are used to construct dominant and non-dominant social identities (such as race, class, gender, sexuality).
