It's time to WEIGH THE WASTE. Every day, IC composts 3,000 lbs of material- how much do YOU contribute to that number? How much of this compost can we avoid making in the first place? This is a heads-up that next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (11/19-11/21) the Sustainability Interns through Sodexo (with a little help from their eco-minded friends) will be weighing the food-related waste generated in the three dining halls- Campus Center, Towers and Terraces. This includes food scraps AND napkins. Collecting this data helps us to see how much food we waste as a campus community and what changes we can make to lower that number- whether it's with students or institutional. It will be a judgement-free zone as always. But with Thanksgiving just around the corner, it is more important than ever to be aware about not only the environmental impacts of our food waste, but the social costs. It's all about being thankful, loving food and hating waste. We are also on twitter! @Icdining
