"Why I Became Asian-American…"

Contributed by Evelio Perez on 11/18/13

As you all are excited for our upcoming break we are excited for this weeks meeting which will include a guest lecture by Dr. Phuong Nguyen! Dr. Nguyen is currently teaching two courses this semester,The "Introduction to Asian-American Studies"   along with "Race and Love in Asian-America". As the coordinator of the newly developedAsian-American Studies minor Dr. Nguyen's long background in ethnic studies has given him a foundation for discussing issues of race and identity. During this meeting he will talk about his personal experiences with such topics as he tries to raise questions and bring light to ideas we never fully talk about as well as answer the question of "Why I Became Asian-American.."

It will be a great dialogue and we hope all of you can attend and bring your friends for this great opportunity!   Meet us in Williams 313 this Thursday at 7pm as we get to not only get to know Dr. Nguyen better but share our stories as well

Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact Evelio Perez at eperez1@ithaca.edu. We ask that requests for accommodations be made as soon as possible.
