Campus Gathering Planned for Students in Automobile AccidentContributed by David Maley on 12/02/13 Members of the campus community are invited to gather at Muller Chapel at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3, to offer support to one another and share their thoughts and prayers following the automobile accident that claimed the life of one Ithaca College student and injured three others. The chaplains and professional staff from the Counseling Center will be available during and after the gathering. While returning to Ithaca from the Thanksgiving break Sunday night, Michael N. Clark was killed when he swerved to avoid a deer and his car overturned on Rt. 88. A 2011 graduate of Acton-Boxborough Regional High School in Massachusetts, Michael was a junior majoring in English at the college. Three passengers in the car, all Ithaca College students as well, were injured in the accident. Ezra Chamberlain, a junior theatrical production arts major; and Melanie Pond, a junior speech-language pathology major, remain hospitalized at Albany Medical Center. Christopher Rose, a sophomore integrated marketing communications major, was treated at the hospital and released. We ask that you continue to keep all four students and their loved ones in your own thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Support services to all members of the Ithaca College community are available through the Center for Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) by calling 274-3136. Faculty and staff can access the counseling services of the Employee Assistance Program by calling 1-800-327-2255. For more information on support services, visit www.ithaca.edu/sacl/counseling. We will continue to keep the campus community updated as we have additional information that we are able to share. Marisa Kelly |
