Spring Break Trip to Costa Rica - March 8-16, 2014

INFORMATION SESSION:
Wed., Dec. 18

Center for Health Sciences 201

  • Stay in ecotourism lodges in Alajuela, Monteverde, Quepos, and Marino Ballena
  • Learn model sustainable ecotourism practices that protect natural resources and biodiversity, use organic methods, and support local communities and economies
  • Visit Manuel Antonio National Park to observe tropical wildlife and enjoy the ocean
  • Kayak in Terraba River Mangrove Forest
  • Visit family farms and sugar cane Trapiche near Quepos and talk with local farmers
  • Hike in Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve
  • Take cloud forest canopy tour in Selvatura Park, Monteverde
  • Volunteer with ASANA turtle conservation project

All activities led by certified Costa Rican guides trained in tropical biology. Students will need to attend two pre-trip and one post-trip class sessions at IC (arranged according to students’ schedules).

ESTIMATED COST:  $2,996 (based on an enrollment of 10 students; includes airfare, lodging, meals, guides, vans, park and activity fees, airport tax, and travel insurance)
