Join us for an exploration into guided relaxation. This class focuses on relaxing into yoga poses. We will use blankets, bolster pillows and gently encouraging words to shape the body into the poses. These sessions, held in the Fitness Center aerobics room beginning the week of Jan. 27th are appropriate for beginners through advanced practitioners. Those with chronic, stress-related conditions will benefit. Mindful breathing and moments of silence round out this refreshing and deeply relaxing class, while erasing stress and moving the body and mind towards balanced health. Your Instructor: James has been studying yoga since a young age. He turned to the Iyengar method of practice in 1999, after injuries from other forms of yoga caused him to seek refuge in the intelligence and rigor of study in this tradition. Since 2003 James has traveled to India several times a year to study with senior Iyengar teachers. Contact Brad Buchanan (bbuchana@ithaca.edu) for more information and times for the class. Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact Brad Buchanan: bbuchana@ithaca.edu 607-274-3275. We ask that requests for accommodations be made as soon as possible. |
