In October 2013 Apple released their latest operating system, OS X 10.9 Mavericks, as a free upgrade through the App Store for Mac OS 10.7 and 10.8 systems. ITS has since tested Mavericks with the software* and systems commonly used at Ithaca College and the new operating system is now being deployed on new computers starting with Spring 2014 technology renewal. Users of Mac OS 10.7 and 10.8 may also upgrade to Mavericks if they wish. Anyone planning to upgrade is advised to check with software and hardware vendors regarding compatibility of any specialty software or devices with Mavericks. See this guide for help with common tasks on Mavericks (.pdf guide): https://www.ithaca.edu/its/traindoc/docs/quick_guides/os/mavericks.pdf For Mac OS X 10.8, the Mavericks upgrade is offered through the normal software update process. Mac OS X 10.7 users need to manually install it from the App Store. *Please note that Juniper Network Connect (commonly used for remote access to the Mentor file server) is not compatible with Mavericks. Instead, use Junos Pulse to connect to Mentor from off campus: Junos Pulse Remote Access for Mac (.pdf guide) ITS Helpdesk |
