In response to devastating Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, Filipino communities in the US and beyond have swiftly contributed to relief efforts. Exploring such subjects as immigration history, the portrait of contemporary Filipino-Americans, and the politics of ethnic/national identity, how has Typhoon Haiyan evoked a sense of surging nationalism in Filipino-Americans? How does tragedy lead to mobilization abroad? Come to this event to find out and more! Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact Melanie Chu at mchu1@ithaca.edu. We ask that requests for accommodations be made as soon as possible. |
