ICCE, Ithaca College Contemporary Ensemble performs a program dedicated to the music of the Americas and consisting of a piece for alto sax and electronics by Indiana-based composer Sang Mi Ahn (winner of the 2013 Ithaca College International Heckscher Prize), Concerto for saxophone quartet by Philip Glass, Rumble Strips by Gordon Stout, Trio para un Nuevo Tiempo by Peruvian composer Celso Garrido-Lecca (a piece based on a song by Chilean iconic songwriter and political activist Violeta Parra); and a recent piece by IC faculty composer Jorge Grossmann that uses Peruvian whistling vessels, an ancient pre-Columbian instrument.
