The lecture is sponsored by Sigma Tau Delta, the English Honor Society, and is free and open to the public. Jennifer Spitzer is Assistant Professor of English at Ithaca College, where she teaches on late 19th-and 20th-century literature, transatlantic modernism and gender and sexuality. She has published on Oscar Wilde in Oscholars and on D.H. Lawrence and Freud in Modernism/modernity. Her current book project, Defending the Soul: British Modernism and the Resistance to Psychoanalysis, explores the discursive rivalries between modernism and psychoanalysis during the first half of the twentieth century in Britain.
