Tonight! Sustainability Speaker on "Gender and Climate Change" at 7pmContributed by Marian Brown on 04/29/14 TONIGHT - Tuesday, April 29 - at 7pm in Textor Hall Room 101, Lorena Aguilar, internationally renowned expert on the intersection between gender and sustainable development, will present "Gender and Climate Change: Untold Stories from the Field." This event is free and open to the public. Lorena Aguilar is Global Senior Gender Advisor for the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the world’s oldest and largest global environmental organization. IUCN has become the largest professional global conservation network, as well as a leading authority on the environment and sustainable development. IUCN’s Gender Programme promotes gender equality and equity, and supports efforts of women worldwide to encourage social justice by providing equal access to the goods and services of nature through sustainable development. Ms. Aguilar has over 25 years of experience in projects and initiatives involving public policy development, building local institutions and the incorporation of social and gender issues into development. This event is co-sponsored by Sustainability at Ithaca, Latin American Studies, Women and Gender Studies, and Environmental Studies and Sciences.
