There are still some seats in Gender and Sexuality in Spanish Women's Writings (SPAN 26600, CRN 23405)!  This course covers a wide range of literature—narrative fiction, theater and poetry—written by women in Spain, both native born and immigrant, from the period of the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) to the present day. Throughout the semester, we will examine a variety of critical approaches and philosophies to develop a framework for thinking about the intersections of gender identity, considering how politics, culture, economics, race, religion, politics—affect women’s lives. This course is tailored to foreground questions related to sexuality and desire, and to identify the ways in which human sexuality intersects with other dimensions of social life. This course is taught in English and counts towards the minor in Women’s and Gender Studies. For more information, contact Maria DiFrancesco, mdifrancesco@ithaca.edu
