The Ithaca College All College Teacher Education Committee (ACTEC) is sponsoring an event titled "What All Educators Should Know About the Impact of the Common Core State Standards," on Wednesday April 30th from 5:30 p.m. - 6:45 p.m. in Textor 101.

The introduction of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) has changed the practices of teachers and the learning experiences of students across the country, and the implementation of these standards has generated thoughtful, sometimes passionate, discussion and debate among education stakeholders. Join us as we briefly introduce the development of the CCSS and invite a panel of local educators to discuss the ways the Common Core State Standards are affecting teaching and learning in our community’s schools.

The panelists for this event will be:

  • Jarett Powers, Principal, Ithaca High School
  • Christine Bainbridge, Speech-Language Pathologist, Spencer Van Etten School District
  • Heather Sheriden-Thomas, Assistant Superintendent, Tompkins-Seneca-Tioga BOCES

The event will be facilitated by Jeane Copenhaver-Johnson (Education) and Jana Waller (Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology) and is open to all.

For more information, check the posting on the events calendar.

Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact Jana Waller at jwaller@ithaca.edu. We ask that requests for accommodations be made as soon as possible.
