Matt Fee, assistant professor of screen studies and director of the Park Scholar Program, presented at the recent conference Contemporary Horrors: Destabilizing a Cinematic Genre, held at the University of Chicago.

Fee presented “A Decade of Decay: Industry, Ideology, and the Growth of the Irish Horror Film,” research that examines the recent boom in the production of Irish horror films, its ideological importance to contemporary anxieties regarding the rural and the family and, more generally, the complicated role of genre in developing a national cinema.
