Internet Explorer Update

Contributed by Karen Compton on 05/02/14

Microsoft has released a patch to address the IE security flaw that was announced a few days ago. Once the patch has been installed, it is safe to resume use of Internet Explorer.

For college-owned Windows computers, the patch was released yesterday afternoon (5/1):

  • If you were prompted to install a Windows update when you shut down yesterday, your computer should now be protected.
  • Otherwise, go to your Start button as if you were going to shut down the computer. If the shut down process indicates that updates are available, proceed with shutting down your computer. Once you reboot, your computer will be protected.

For personally-owned Windows computers, the patch should be available through your normal Windows Update process.
