Information Technology Services (ITS) is pleased to announce that Microsoft Office 2013 is now available as a free upgrade for IC faculty and staff members to install on their college-owned Windows computers.

Please be aware there are some users who should NOT upgrade at this time:

  • Parnassus core apps, HomerAdmin, or Argus reports users (Oracle has not yet certified Office 2013)
  • Windows XP users (XP is not compatible with Office 2013 - please contact the Helpdesk if you would like to inquire about upgrading from XP to Windows 7)

If you are ready to upgrade, here are some links to get you started:

  • Visit the ITS support site for Office 2013 (includes a link to the installation guide)
  • Visit Microsoft’s Getting Started page (scroll to the bottom of the page and click the icons for the applications you are interested in)

Faculty members should be aware that Office 2013 will be installed in labs and eClassrooms during Summer 2014. Faculty may want to consider upgrading their office computer before the fall semester to allow time to become comfortable with the new interface and features.

At this time, ITS supports the newest versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. The other applications provided with the installer are not currently supported by ITS. Refer to our support site for additional information about these applications.
