Angela Rudert, a lecturer in the Department of Philosophy and Religion at Ithaca College, will give a presentation at Longview introducing her research on Anandmurti Gurumaa, a young, yet prominent and globetrotting female guru from north India, in the context of the growing prominence of women’s religious leadership as gurus, a traditionally male role in India. Angela received her PhD in Religion from Syracuse University, and MA in Asian Studies from Cornell University. A Doctoral Dissertation Research Award from Fulbright-Hays and a dissertation award from FLAS supported Angela’s fieldwork in India in 2008 and 2009. This presentation is scheduled from 7:00 to 8:00 PM in the Longview Auditorium at 1 Bella Vista Drive.
