Asma Barlas, professor and director, Center for the Study of Culture, Race, and Ethnicity, gave a keynote and a three-day class at the summer school on 'Critical Muslim Studies: Decolonial Struggles and Liberation Theologies,' in Granada, Spain, during the week of June 9th.

The summer school is offered by the Ethnic Studies Program at UC, Berkeley and the Center of Study for Intercultural Dialogues, Spain. Barlas's keynote was on 'Qur'anic Hermeneutics as Ethics,' and the class explored a series of issues relating to the production of knowledge in and about Islam.
