Michael Faber presents Meditation for Working Minds on August 6thContributed by Katie Sack on 07/18/14 "Within yourself is a stillness, a sanctuary to which you can retreat at any time and be yourself." ~Herman Hess On Wednesday, August 6th, Michael Faber will present a short talk on the benefits of practicing meditation in the workplace, followed by actual practice. Basic sanity is every worker's birthright and is always available to anyone who trains their self to come to a brief "full stop" in the midst of work or play. It will be shown that it is always within a person's grasp to step back from the pressures and stress generated by the need to produce and accomplish assigned tasks while under deadlines. We all possess the inner resources to calm down, cool out, and restore the balance so necessary to living a full and complete life. Anyone can cultivate a quiet, receptive attitude of mind, even amidst the sometimes chaotic milieu of a busy workplace. MEDITATION FOR WORKING MINDS Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact Katie Sack at ksack@ithaca.edu or (607) 274-8000. We ask that requests for accommodations be made as soon as possible. |
